Hyundai to launch on-demand unmanned minibusses in South Korea

The minibus can be ordered via the app and will arrive at one of 20 stops.

Hyundai Motor will launch the RoboShuttle self-driving public transport pilot on August 9, 2021.

The minibus will operate on a route of about six kilometers in the city of Sejong, with 20 stops along the way.

Passengers will be able to “book” a minibus through the Shucle app. The system, using artificial intelligence, will determine which stop is better for the passenger to approach, and how the transport can reach faster.

The company uses the Hyundai H350 minibus in the project. Self-driving technologies correspond to the fourth level of autonomy, they can work under certain conditions. There will be a driver in the cabin for safety.

In the second half of 2021, the company will launch a service in the Namyang area of the South Korean city of Hwaseong.
