Millau Viaduct (France)
The Millau Viaduct is the world’s highest cable-stayed bridge and the biggest in Europe. Incredibly, the bridge is 8,000 feet long, 105 feet wide and sits 1,125 feet above the ground.
Bridge construction lasted three years and crossed the Gorge Valley in southern France. It was necessary to build side screens to protect the bridge from wind since it is so high.

2006’s International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering Outstanding Structure Award went to the Milau Viaduct.
