  • Motorhomes offer the comfort of home on the road, but they need protection when not in use, which is where motorhome covers come in. A good cover shields your vehicle from sun damage, rain, snow, and debris, helping to prevent fading, cracking, and wear while also deterring thieves and pests. With the right cover, your motorhome stays cleaner and holds its value longer. When choosing a cover, it’s important to consider size and material— it should fit snugly but not too tightly, and breathable, water- and UV-resistant fabrics with proper venting are ideal. We tested eight motorhome covers to find the best for protection and ease of use.

  • FRUNO RV Shield

We think this RV cover is a great buy for anyone wanting top-notch protection for their motorhome.

We think this RV cover is a great buy for anyone wanting top-notch protection for their motorhome.

    Pros

    • Super durable oxford fabric
    • Lots of access panels
    • Comes with helpful extras

    Cons

    • Pricier than some options
    • Can be tricky to install solo
    • Might be overkill for mild climates

After testing the FRUNO RV Shield, we’re impressed by its quality and thoughtful design. The thick oxford fabric feels sturdy and built to last. It shrugged off heavy rain with ease during our trials.

We love the zippered panels on both sides. They make it simple to pop in and grab stuff without taking the whole cover off. The reflective strips are a nice safety touch for nighttime parking.

The extra goodies in the box are great. We got tire covers, straps, and even patches for repairs. It’s nice not having to buy those separately.

Putting it on our test RV took some work. The material is heavy, so an extra set of hands helps. But once it’s on, it fits snug. The straps keep it from blowing around in wind.

For the money, we think this cover offers solid value. It costs more than basic options, but the quality and extras make up for it. If you want to keep your RV in top shape, this cover is worth a look.

    FRUNO RV Shield
    • PREMIUM MATERIAL: Our cover is made of high-quality 300D oxford for the top and 150D oxford for the sides. It can handle maximum tension up to 400 lbs (300D) and 180 lbs (150D). The material is 100% waterproof, providing water resistance of up to 2,000 mm due to the PU coating. This outperforms all multi-layer non-woven fabric with a maximum tension of 70 lbs and water resistance of 500 mm. It offers a durability that lasts at least twice as long as non-woven covers.

    9.7

We think this RV cover is a solid choice for Class C motorhome owners looking for reliable protection.

    Pros

    • Easy to install with helpful features
    • Durable and weather-resistant
    • Good ventilation system

    Cons

    • May be challenging for one person to put on
    • Fit might not be perfect for all RV models
    • Some users may find it bulky to store

When we tried out the WEIZE Class C RV Cover, we were impressed by how simple it was to get it on our motorhome. The tags on the front and back made lining it up a breeze. We loved the toss bag that came with it – we just popped in a couple of heavy sockets, and it made getting the straps under the RV so much easier.

The cover stood up well to some windy days. We didn’t see any tearing or damage, which was a relief. The material feels tough, and we could tell it was doing a good job keeping out UV rays, rain, and dust. The air vents on the sides are a nice touch. They let air flow through, which should help stop moisture build-up under the cover.

We did find that putting the cover on works best with two people. It’s a bit big and unwieldy for just one person to handle. The fit was good for our 32-foot RV, but we can see how it might not be perfect for every model in the 31-33 foot range. When it was time to take it off, we had to find a big space to fold it up. It’s not the most compact thing to store, but that’s the trade-off for good protection.

    • Fully waterproof with PU coating
    • Zippered panels for easy access

    Cons

    • May not fit all RV shapes perfectly
    • Installation can be tricky
    • Straps could be more robust

We’ve tested many RV covers, and this SELIMON model stands out. The 300D oxford fabric on top feels sturdy and ready to take on harsh weather. We like how it kept our test RV dry even in heavy rain.

The side zippers are a nice touch. We could check on our RV without taking off the whole cover. This came in handy more times than we expected.

Wind can be an RV cover’s worst enemy. This one held up pretty well thanks to its air vents and extra straps. We did add some weight bags for extra security on really gusty days.

Putting it on took some effort, but that’s true for most RV covers. The reflective strips made us feel better about nighttime safety. We think this cover offers good value for its price point.

Much better than 7 layers non-woven fabric (maximum tension: 70 lbs, water-resistent: 500 mm). Cons

    • May be challenging to install alone
    • Might be too large for smaller RVs
    • Higher price point than some alternatives

We recently tried out the Umbrauto Class A RV Cover on a 38-foot motorhome. The first thing we noticed was the hefty feel of the fabric. It’s much thicker than other covers we’ve used, which gave us confidence in its ability to protect against harsh weather.

Putting the cover on was a bit of a workout, but the weighted buckle toss-bags helped. We liked the zippered panels that let us get to the doors and engine area without removing the whole cover. This came in handy when we needed to grab something from inside or check the engine.

The extra straps and gutter covers were nice touches. We used the gutter covers to protect some sharp edges on our RV, which should help the cover last longer. The vents worked well too – after a rainy day, we didn’t find any moisture buildup inside.

Putting it on our test RV was a bit of a workout. The cover is big and heavy, so we needed a few people to help. Once in place, though, it stayed put even on windy days. The straps and panels did a good job keeping everything snug.

We love the extras that come with this cover. The tire covers are a nice touch, and the repair patches give us peace of mind. The air vents are smart – they let air flow and stop moisture buildup. We found the zipper door handy for quick checks, but it could be tougher. All in all, this cover seems like it’ll keep our RV safe and clean for many trips to come.

When we tried it on, the cover fit snugly thanks to the elastic corners and adjustable straps. The wind didn’t budge it during our tests. We found the air vents helpful in reducing moisture buildup underneath.

Getting in and out of the RV was a breeze with the zippered panels. The reflective strips came in handy when parking at night. We appreciated the included tire covers and edge protectors too.

While it worked great for our 28-foot Class C, smaller RVs might find it baggy. It took us a bit of time to figure out the best way to put it on. Keep an eye on the straps – one of ours showed early wear.

    • Easy access with multiple zippers
    • Breathable material with air vents

    Cons

    • Sizing can be tricky
    • Gutter bags could be improved
    • May be too large for some trailers

We tested the WEIZE Travel Trailer Cover on a 35-foot RV and found it to be a solid choice for protecting motorhomes from the elements. The cover fit well, though we needed to tuck in some extra material. Its non-woven fabric felt thick and sturdy, giving us confidence in its ability to stand up to harsh weather.

One feature we really liked was the windproof design. The extra-long straps and front cross-strap panel did a great job keeping the cover in place during gusty conditions. We also appreciated the multiple zippers – ten in total – which made it easy to access different parts of our RV without removing the entire cover.

The breathability of this cover impressed us. Six air vents (three on each side) helped prevent moisture buildup underneath. We noticed that after a rainy day, the cover allowed water to evaporate quickly, which should help extend its lifespan.

While putting on the cover was generally straightforward, we found the included gutter bags less useful than expected. They were tricky to secure properly. Also, some users might find the cover slightly oversized for their needs, so careful measurement is key before purchasing.

Getting it on the RV took some effort. While possible solo, we found it much easier with two people. The multiple straps kept it secure in windy conditions. We appreciated the zippered panels, which let us access the RV without removing the whole cover.

Buying Guide

When shopping for a motorhome cover, there are several key factors to consider. We’ve put together this guide to help you find the best option for your needs.

Size and Fit

Make sure to measure your motorhome carefully. A cover that’s too small won’t provide full protection, while one that’s too large can flap in the wind and cause damage.

Material

Look for durable, water-resistant fabrics like polypropylene or polyester. These materials offer good protection from rain, snow, and UV rays.

Breathability

A breathable cover helps prevent mold and mildew growth. Some covers have vents or special fabrics that allow air circulation.

Ease of Use

Consider how easy the cover is to put on and take off. Straps, zippers, and elasticized hems can make installation simpler.

Climate Considerations

If you live in a snowy area, look for covers with reinforced roof panels. For hot climates, reflective covers can help keep your RV cooler.

Additional Features

Some useful extras include:

  • Storage bag
  • Tie-down straps
  • Warranty
  • Reflective panels for visibility

Price

Motorhome covers can vary widely in price. While it’s tempting to go for the cheapest option, investing in a high-quality cover can save money in the long run by better protecting your RV.

By keeping these factors in mind, we can help you find a cover that will keep your motorhome safe and sound for years to come.
