Ragsdale sweeps Central

Feb. 16—HIGH POINT — Trent Jackson and Kobe Parker each scored 12 points to lead Ragsdale past High Point Central 63-50 in Metro 4A Conference boys basketball Monday night at Central’s Coach Carter Court.

In the girls game, Ragsdale, keyed by Katarina Maros’ 12 points, led big early and rolled to a 53-43 win.

Cameron Cofield scored 10 points for the Ragsdale boys (8-3 overall, 4-2 Metro), who are in third place in the conference but within reach of Page and Grimsley with two games left in the regular season.

Tre Hill scored 21 points to lead the Bison (1-12, 1-7), who trailed by 14 midway through the second quarter but pulled within six at halftime before the Tigers rebuilt their double-digit lead late. Three players each had five points.

In addition to Maros, whose size inside was a distinct advantage, Christian Atwater scored nine points while Alyssa Bradford added seven points for Ragsdale (10-2, 6-1), which is tied for the conference lead with Northwest Guilford after splitting their two meetings with the Vikings.

Janiya Mitchell scored 17 points — hitting five 3-pointers — to lead Central (1-11, 0-8), which, despite only having six available players, had a strong fourth quarter against the Tigers’ reserves. Anna Krajisnik added nine points, while Jayah Shannon followed with seven points.

Ragsdale scored all 14 points of the opening quarter, the first 16 points of the game and led 26-8 at halftime. It extended its lead to 31 early in the fourth before the Bison made a nice 25-4 run over the final seven minutes for the final margin.

Both Ragsdale teams will play Wednesday at home against Page, and the boys will finish Friday at Northwest. Both Central teams wrap up their season tonight at home against nonconference opponent Providence Grove.
