lol, I assume they have some algos to pick out valuable ones.
Three letters was probably enough to make them buy; popular game with relevant tld just the icing on the cake.
Ill be curious to see how much they relist it for. The sad thing is that its probably not worth enough for anyone to bother paying their ask price, so the domain will just go to the graveyard
Ok I’m going to be honest here but a few years ago the trend was always:
Don’t use GoDaddy, use Namecheap.
And now based on this thread it’s:
Don’t use Namecheap, use NameSilo
I personally haven’t had any issues with Namecheap, and their support has actually always been great to me. I’ve even looked up the same domain names multiple times and they didn’t get taken.
Disclaimer: I do host some websites at NameCheap.
Been a user of namecheap for nearly a decade and I have never heard of domains being bought up by namecheap after someone searches for a domain name. I have even had domain names that have expired that be able to be re-registered years afterwards.
However, I would also mention to use domainr.com to search for domains, as they also search for ones that namecheap might not have.
My guess, based on the domain name you mentioned, is that someone else bought it around the same time as you. Dungeons and Dragons and quest is literally begging for someone to buy it up.
I would (and have previously) given the benefit of the doubt, but something very similar happened to me before on NC about 3 years ago. 2 domains I was purchasing were changed to premium in checkout. I only discovered the price had been upped to $6500 when my card was declined. Thank goodness I didnt have more money in my account.
Interesting that you mention domainr.com, I used them for that last one I mentioned. Heres the post, I thought I had made a more thorough post about it, but that account didnt survive the email verification purge so i cant log in to check. Fool that I am, I decided it must be a mistake, and it would be too much hassle to move my domains away from nc. This time I think I’ll have to.
